Year-round, there is one direct Alsa bus Supra, Malaga airport bus daily from Malaga to Almuñécar. In the summer months, they may add an additional bus Malaga Almunecar (service at 11:45 am) or a bus Almunecar to Malaga.
The bus is an Alsa bus (Supra Economy), which is silver/grey in color. It offers a more spacious and luxurious ride, with only 3 seats across rather than 4. Included with your ticket you will be provided with a small bottle of water, a snack, and headphones. The bus does offer wifi and has an entertainment system. The wifi password is often ALSA or SUPRA, but do look at the signs above the exit door.
This bus will take you directly to Almuñécar, after making one brief stop in central Malaga bus station. The total journey time is about 1 hour and 45 minutes. You will depart the airport promptly at 14:30and arrive at the Almuñécar central bus station at 16:15. You may catch this bus just outside the Malaga airport arrivals area. As you exit, continue straight ahead until you reach the curb, and then it should be about 2 bus stands down on your left side.
If you do not make it in time for the direct bus, you have some options to get to the Malaga central station and take a bus to Almuñécar from there.
Train to Malaga city center:
If you want to take the train into Malaga central station, it is located outside of arrivals and walk to the left and into the building across the road in front of you. Train tickets are about 3 euros and the train station is right next to the Malaga bus station. Location of Malaga Bus Station and Train Station.
Bus to Malaga city center:
You will instead take a city bus from the airport to the Malaga city bus station and then get a ticket for a bus to Almuñécar from there. This will likely take a bit longer, as you will need to wait for the next bus to Almuñécar. You may catch this bus just outside the Malaga airport arrivals area. As you exit, continue straight ahead until you reach the curb, and then it should be about 1-2 stands down on your right side. Location of Malaga Bus Station and Train Station.
When you arrive in Almuñécar there are taxis lined up in front of the bus station, just in case you need one.

How do I find the bus stop to Almuñécarat the airport?
As you exit the Malaga airport arrivals terminal, you will see an information and ticket booth directly in front of you. Just walk directly behind that booth until you reach the curb area at the end. The path is in the photo below. You should have the coffee shop on your right and the ticket booth to your left.
All along that curb is the bus stops. The far-right stop is the city bus, which will take you to the central Malaga bus station. If you are not on the direct bus, go to the far right and take the bus to the central station and then find your bus to Almuñécar. As you move along to the left there are various other options.
The far-left bus stop is for the direct bus from the Malaga airport to Almuñécar. It is clearly marked on the glass bus stop. This is where you would wait if you have the direct bus only.
Where can I buy bus tickets for the Malaga Airport bus from Almuñécar?
- Online: It is advisable to book your Malaga airport bus tickets in advance,You may book your bus tickets here now! This will allow you to select your seat and ensure you have a spot on the bus. They do fill up fast.
- On the bus: You may also purchase a ticket on the bus, but it is first come first served. They sometimes fill up with online reservations and you may not get a seat on the bus. You would then need to take the city bus to the central bus station and transfer to anAlmuñécar bus.
- At the airport: There is a ticket booth directly in front of you as you exit the terminal from the Malaga arrivals area. They have very limited hours, which can sometimes change. Currently, it is posted as Tuesday – Friday 10:30 – 14:15 and 15:00 – 18:30.

The direct bus will take you from Almuñécar central bus station to the Malaga airport, after making one brief stop in Malaga city center. The total journey time is about 1 hour and 45 minutes. You will depart Almuñécar promptly at 11:15 and arrive at the Airport at 13:00. The bus drops you in the same location as the airport pick up. (see photos above for Malaga airport to Almuñécar).
Once you exit the bus, make your way to the upper floor of the terminal for departures (Salidas).

How to get to from Alsa bus station Malaga to the Malaga Airport
If you do not make it in time for the direct bus, you will instead take a bus to the central bus station in Malaga and then get a ticket for a bus to the airport from there. This will likely take a bit longer, as you will need to wait for the next bus to the airport. Once you arrive at the bus station, you may just walk to platform 32 (at the end of the walkway). Here you will wait for bus “A”, which is the airport bus.
The cost for the “A” bus is €3 and you pay as you get on the bus. This will take you directly to the airport, with a few stops along the way. Location of Malaga Bus Station and Train Station.
If you prefer to take the train from Malaga to the airport, just walk across the street from the bus station and enter the mall and train station. There you should be able to take the train out to the airport for just a couple of euros!
